For people who love math, one of the things they find most attractive is that “math has right answers”. Unfortunately, this is exactly the reason that most people don’t like math. Math can be unforgiving and that can engender feelings of failure when one gets the wrong answer. Once you “fail”, you have two choices, persevere or give up. People who like math try again, those that don’t tend to give up quickly.

These two articles explain why failure is a natural consequence of learning and that if you have the proper expectations going in, you are much more likely to be successful. As we like to say at Math Plus Academy, “If you aren’t failing, you aren’t learning.”
