Why I love Math

Lisa Anichowski

Lisa AnichowskiLisa is another teacher that’s been with MPA for quite some time. She specializes working with the little ones. We love her use of manipulatives and hands-on, minds-on interactive lessons!

Why I love Math

I love math because I love puzzles. Figuring out how to approach a problem and which strategy or strategies to use in order to solve it is fun. I love coming up with story problems for my students which have several steps. It encourages them to try multiple approaches when solving problems and how important it is to double check one’s work to make sure the answer “makes sense.”

Favorite MPA Strategy

My favorite strategy is to provide the students with a challenging problem, just outside of their comfort zone and allow them to attempt to solve it. This allows me to see where they need the most support and I can fine tune my instruction appropriately.

Why I love Math

Math provides a challenge unlike any other subject. Nothing is more exciting than using problem solving skills to tackle something new. At MPA I get the opportunity to see young students explore the boundaries of their knowledge and create so many amazing things.

Favorite MPA Strategy
